Betty Carolyn Stewart
Private family graveside services for Mrs. Betty Carolyn Stewart of Farmerville, LA will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bernice, LA. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe.
Mrs. Stewart was born August 2, 1937 in Bernice, LA and passed from this life on April 16, 2017 in Monroe, LA at the age of 79. She was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church and was retired from Chateau Darbonne Nursing Home. She enjoyed cooking, collecting recipes for her cookbook and loved spending time with family.
She is preceded in death by her life partner of 52 years, Charles R. Harkins, Sr.; her parents, Kermit and Evelyn Pilgreen; her son, Tony Stewart and wife Patricia; and one sister, Virginia “Sister” Pilgreen.
Survivors include her sons, Michael Stewart and wife Sharon of Seattle, WA and Timothy Stewart and wife Maxine of Bernice; her daughters, Lori Stewart and fiancé Samuel Rymer of Monroe, and Kristie Stewart Henry and husband, Keith of Leesville; two brothers, Kermit Newton Pilgreen, Jr. and wife Sue of Lake Charles; and Ricky Pilgreen of Farmerville; one sister, Ruth Ann Couch and husband Bobby of Bernice; also survived by thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
