Jerry "Cortez" McCready
Funeral services for Mr. Jerry Cortez McCready of West Monroe, LA will be 10:00am Friday, September 29, 2017 in the chapel of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe with Bro. Gene Benson and Matt Owens. Interment will follow at Camp Creek Baptist Cemetery in Spearsville, LA under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5:00pm until 8:00pm Thursday, September 28, 2017 at the funeral home.
Mr. McCready was born June 8, 1956 in Monroe, LA and passed from this life on September 24, 2017 in Ruston, LA after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 61. He was employed in sales for sixteen years at Bayou Overhead Door. He loved to shoot pool, play baseball and working in the yard. He loved his grandchildren so much and they were such a part of him that he would often dream about them when he slept. He was a loving husband, son, father, grampy and brother and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, “Papaw” Cortez Jones and his father, Howard Eugene McCready.
Survivors include his wife, Cindy McCready; his son, Dillon McCready, and Melissa Atkinson and husband Patrick, Miranda Beavers and Trey Walker; his mother, Clo Robertson and husband Al “Pops”; his brothers, Howard McCready and wife Jonie and Danny Joe McCready; nine grandchildren, Logan, Katelyn, Gabe, Cecilia, Isabelle, Brailey, Aurora, Brantley, and Connor; also survived by a host of extended family and friends.
Pallbearers will be John Sullivan, Bonnie Prince, Jeff Ray, Randy Haley, Steve Thompson and Mark Willis; honorary pallbearers: Billy Ray Wilson, Jack Cook, Tommy Semmes, David Cooper, Jeff Mayo and Charlie Owens.
